“Music gives soul to the universe, Wings to the Mind, Flight to the imagination and life to everything”. Plato

Music is a powerful medium which can inspire and touch children of all ages and ability, due to its unique quality of being a universal language. Music is a way of communicating and conveying a variety of emotions which allows children to develop their personal expression in a creative and enjoyable way. It provides a means of developing evaluation and appraisal skills and is easily accessible to children of all abilities, developing children’s self-confidence and inspiring them to have a life long love of music.

During their journey of learning at Kennington CE Academy, children are provided with opportunities to create, play, perform and enjoy music through a variety of means. Children are also encouraged to appreciate a wide variety of music and musical forms, study different cultures and historical composers, in order to understand how music has come to shape the diverse world in which we now live in.

We also offer peripatetic music lessons in clarinet, flute, trumpet, saxophone and guitar.  If you are interested in taking music lessons please contact the school office. Should you wish to start an instrument that is not listed please let us know and we will endeavour to facilitate this.
