Pupil Premium
Pupil Premium at Kennington CE Academy is well monitored, evaluated and structured. Close tracking of the progress and attainment of the pupils is undertaken and case studies on all PP pupils are held. PP are at the forefront of PPM discussions, where interventions and support are set up and next steps identified. All staff have a clear understanding of the barriers to learning for disadvantaged pupils and plan effectively to accelerate this group to their next level of achievement in all areas.

Achieve Succeed and Celebrate is at the forefront of our school’s philosophy alongside our Core Values and the community and stakeholders are fully engaged with this ethos; which highlights our Christian Distinctiveness believing that everybody can achieve.

Through pupil voice the non-negotiables for all pupils are:

Consistent first quality learning and teaching, which challenges the pupil at their level. As a result of CPD for all teaching staff their ability to use questioning skilfully and to probe pupils’ responses and reshape tasks and explanations is good,

Specific personalised learning strategies and assessment is shared with pupils through the use of “Learning Journeys”

Social and emotional provision which supports pupils to overcome barriers to individual success. Teaching staff tackle misconceptions and build on pupils’ strengths. Pupils’ good conduct reflects and promotes the school’s high standards.

The progress of data has improved substantially over the past three years, for all groups of pupils from their starting point in education and currently PP pupils are in line expectations.

PE and Sport Premium

The DfE's guidance on PE and Sport Premium for primary schools (November 2019) states:

"All young people should have the opportunity to live healthy and active lives. A positive experience of sport and physical activity at a young age can build a lifetime habit of participation, and is central to meeting the government’s ambitions for a world-class education system.

Physical activity has numerous benefits for children and young people’s physical health, as well as their mental wellbeing (increasing self-esteem and emotional wellbeing and lowering anxiety and depression), and children who are physically active are happier, more resilient and more trusting of their peers. Ensuring that pupils have access to sufficient daily activity can also have wider benefits for pupils and schools, improving behaviour as well as enhancing academic achievement."
